What started as an eggsperiment for our Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc has now been named a Top 100 Wine by Wine & Spirits. Thank you to editor and publisher Joshua Greene for putting our 2021 Concrete Aged Sauvignon Blanc in the spotlight, read his eggcellent (last one, we promise) review below.
“If you’ve ever wondered what sauvignon blanc could achieve in the prime benchland soils in Rutherford, from mature vines farmed organically and without irrigation, fermented in concrete and presented as a naked evocation of the place, check this out. Most of it was grown on vines planted in the 1980s at Rossi Ranch and the Chavez-Leeds Vineyard; the fruit of each of five parcels ferments individually in its own concrete egg. The low yields in 2021 delivered a sauvignon blanc with fine ripeness, scents of litchi and gunpowder showing the depths of this savory white, its cool citrus fruit brisk and lasting on orange and lime zest. Fresh and delicious now, this has the concentration to age. 94/100”
