The Vineyards of Frog’s Leap
Rooted in our Rutherford home in the heart of the Napa Valley, Frog’s Leap farms 180 acres of vineyards with an unwavering commitment to organic principles and to dry farming that stretches back over 35 years. Together with our small community of like-minded growers, our approach to growing grapes underlies every facet of the balance, freshness, and harmony that we prize in our wines.
Rutherford
The site of our winery and over three-quarters of our vineyard land, Rutherford is home. Long storied for its great Cabernets, the gravelly benchland soils of this tiny (10 square mile) appellation host all of our Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes. Outside of those benchlands, swathes of clay, silt, and deep river soil hold the key to our Sauvignon Blanc and to our limited plantings of Merlot. In between, we find space for growing ten other varieties–some old, some new, and some just because.

Saint Helena
Just a few miles up the road, this is home base for Frog’s Leap Zinfandel. Stony soils, morning fog and sunny afternoons have made St. Helena the epicenter for elegant, structured Zinfandels ever since grapegrowing began in Napa.

Carneros
Famous for hills of shale and sandstone draped in marine fog, Frog’s Leap’s presence in Carneros starts and ends with the Truchard vineyard, home to the hillside block that has been the source of our Chardonnay ever since we began working with the grape.
